Obituary for Marie A. Toms (Doyle)
Marie A. Toms (nee Doyle), 97, of Mendham, NJ, passed away on February 10, 2023.
Relatives and friends are invited for visitation on Wednesday from 4-8 pm at Shook''s Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Avenue, Cedar Grove, NJ 07009, shookscedargrove.com. A Funeral Ceremony will be offered on Thursday 11:00 am in the funeral home. Interment will be at a later date at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ.
Born and raised in Irvington, she lived in Nutley, moved to Caldwell, and settled in Mendham. Prior to her retirement, she was a secretary for Daughters of Miriam Assisted Living Home in Clifton, NJ. In her early years, she enjoyed taking long walks through Grover Cleveland Park in Caldwell with her friend Violet. She also enjoyed playing with her many feline friends and accepting puppy kisses from Benny. She loved puzzles and many hours were looking for the final pieces needed to complete her favorite jigsaw puzzle.
Pre-deceased by her parents, Thomas L. and Bertha Doyle, her husband John Toms, and her brother, Thomas John Doyle, Sr.
Surviving are her beloved daughters, Janice L. Conte (Rick), Kathy Sayeg (Fred), and Sharon Kennedy; cherished grandchildren, Byron, Rachel, and Sean; loving great-grandchildren, Ingrid and Erik. Also surviving are a host of wonderful nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends.
