Obituary for Lucy Ann Hagerty (Torley)
Lucy Ann Hagerty of Cedar Grove, N.J. passed away on February 22, 2023 at the age of 86. Funeral Services will begin on Friday, February 24 at 9:00 a.m. at Shook’s Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove, N.J. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Cedar Grove with interment to follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Upper Montclair, N.J. Born to Scottish immigrants, Laurence and Sally (nee Brown) Torley, in Passaic, N.J., Lucy Ann was equally proud of her American and family heritage. She was raised in Nutley, N.J. before moving to Cedar Grove in 1964. She enjoyed travelling, especially to Cape Cod, as well as decorating, spending time in her porch and garden, entertaining friends and family in her home and was a voracious reader. Lucy was always ready for a good road trip with a packed bag and a Buick with a full tank of gas in the garage. A 36-year school secretary at St. Catherine of Siena School, she was also a devoted parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Church. Lucy Ann’s passion was in helping those around her. She was a founding member of a bereavement support group in Cedar Grove and volunteered her services at Eva’s Kitchen in Paterson, N.J.
Predeceased by her parents, and loving husband of 37 years, Dennis J. Hagerty, she is survived by her beloved children, Noreen Hagerty-Ford and her husband, Michael J. and Dennis T. Hagerty; and many doting nieces, nephews, close friends and neighbors.
