Obituary for Josephine G. "Babe" Nyire (Santomauro)
Josephine G. Nyire "Babe" (Santomauro) 93, of Caldwell, N.J. passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2023. Born and raised in Jersey City, N.J., she resided in Cedar Grove, N.J. for many years prior to settling in Caldwell. She was a parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena RC Church in Cedar Grove. An avid dancer, she enjoyed cooking and baking, but her greatest joy in life came from spending time with her family and friends.
Prior to retiring, she was employed as a secretary with Montclair State University in Montclair for many years.
Beloved wife of the late John A. Nyrie, Jr. Loving and devoted mother of Margaret Quirk and husband Richard, John A. Nyire, III and his late wife Monique, Jacqueline Shashaty and Joanne Lutz and husband Philip. Cherished grandmother of Megan, Jillian, Natalie, and her husband, Frank Mayer, Victoria, Alexandra, John, Philip Jr., Caitlin and Jack. Adored great grandmother of Amelia Mayer. Dear sister of the late Anthony, Pietro and Thomas Santomauro, Madeline Lardino and Rose Marino.
A Funeral Mass is planned for Monday, January 30, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena RC Church, 339 Pompton Avenue, Cedar Grove, N.J. Kindly meet directly at church. Cremation will be private. Memories and condolences may kindly be shared at shookscedargrove.com.
