Obituary for Joseph G. Rosania

Joseph G. Rosania, a devout Catholic, whose patron saint was St. Gerard of Majella, passed away on Friday, April 28th surrounded by his loving family, he was 93.

Joseph was born in Newark, N.J. to Salvatore and Lucia (nee Russomano) Rosania. He was raised in Newark before moving to Cedar Grove, N.J. in 1969 and most recently resided in Verona. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force and was a part of its marching band. For over 50 years, Joe was the Band Leader of Joe Rose Orchestra, playing in numerous venues that included the historical Friar Tuck Inn in Cedar Grove and Windows on the World Restaurant inside the World Trade Center. Concurrently, Joe also worked as an insurance agent for various companies in the area. An overall sports enthusiast, he rooted for the N.Y. Yankees and Giants and UConn Women's Basketball. Above all, Joseph lived for his family. He cherished time spent down the Jersey Shore, family vacations, outings and especially holidays.

Predeceased by his parents, he is reunited with his beautiful wife of 69 years, Rose O. (nee Formato) Rosania, he is survived by his beloved children, Joseph G. Rosania, Jr. and his wife, Jeanne, and Sallyanne Hunter and her husband, David; doting grandchildren, Jaclyn Kjellsen and her husband, Alex, Courtney Yasinski and her husband, Andrew and Joseph G. Rosania, III and his wife, Sarah; and cherished great-granddaughter, Torrey Kjellsen.

Funeral services will begin on Tuesday, May 9th at 9:15 a.m. at Shook's Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lucy's R.C. Church, Newark with entombment to follow at Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield, N.J.
