John Donohue, 84 of West Orange, N.J. passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023. Born in Newark, N.J. and raised in Belleville, he was the youngest of three children born to John and Catherine Donohue. Attending St. Benedicts Prep School helped shape his strong work ethic and generous nature. After graduating from St Michael’s College in Vermont, he joined Catholic Relief Services and headed to Korea where he met his beautiful wife Namhee. An incredibly successful businessman, he and Namhee travelled the world, but he was always happiest returning to his hometown and lifelong friends.
Jack was a devoted family man and loved spending time with family, especially winning tennis tournaments with his beloved doubles partner Namhee. A close second to tennis, was biking, hiking, and talking about the stock market with his three grandsons. Jack was an inspirational leader in all aspects of his life.
Dedicated husband for 61 years to Namhee; loving father to son Michael and his partner, Dina, and to daughter Cathy and her husband, David; cherished brother of Terry and the late Kathleen; and delighted grandfather to Michael, Christopher, and Joshua. He was blessed to enjoy the love of his wonderful extended family.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to the Memorial Gathering on Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. with a Memorial Service to commence at 12 Noon at Shook's Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Avenue, Cedar Grove, N.J.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jack made to St. Benedicts Preparatory School, 520 Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard, Newark, N.J. 07102, are appreciated.
