Obituary for James V. Caruso
James V. Caruso, of Wayne, N.J. passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at the age of 72, surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral Services will begin on Saturday, March 18 at 8:30 a.m. at Shook’s Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove, N.J. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. at St. Gerard of Majella R.C. Church, W. Broadway, Paterson, N.J. with entombment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, E. Hanover, N.J. Born in Newark, N.J, Jim was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Maria (nee Mongiello) for 47 years and a loving and adoring father to his daughter Gina and his son James Michael who pre-deceased him in 2001.
He graduated from Rutgers University in 1973 with a degree in Economics. He began a long and successful career in Banking with JP Morgan Chase for 38 years before retiring in 2013 as Senior Vice President in the Retail Bank. He was a volunteer baseball, softball and basketball coach with the Cedar Grove athletic department. More recently he worked as a tax preparer for The Tax Shoppe, Ramsey, N.J.
In 1970 Jim joined the Army National Guard doing his active duty in Fort Polk, Louisiana. He rose to the rank of sergeant before being honorably discharged in 1976.
Jim enjoyed annual golf trips to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, traveling with his family, and enjoyed participating in bowling and softball leagues.
Left to keep his memory alive are his loving daughter Gina, her partner Marlon, his wife Maria, his brother Nicholas, his in-laws and his nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, donations “In Memory of James Caruso” may be made to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
