Elizabeth “Jackie” Enright, 94, of Carteret, N.J., passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, May 9, 2023.
Born and raised in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, she immigrated to the United States in 1953 residing in Essex Fells, Montclair, Cedar Grove, Succasunna, and various other towns in New Jersey before settling in Carteret.
She served for four years in the Royal Navy as a petty officer. This love had led her to becoming an avid boater, where she and her husband enjoyed hosting many family members and friends on their “home away from home”, a 42’ wooden yacht called Gypsy Rose III.
She also enjoyed spending her time as a founding volunteer and Wednesday manager of Willing Hearts, a consignment shop located in Caldwell.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her parents, James Foster and Sarah (nee: Caldwell) Walker, her loving husband, Martin J. Enright, and beloved daughter, Nancy Tornillo Harris. She is survived by her son, John Tornillo (Suzanne); grandchildren, Tim Harris (Alexis), Kelsey Tornillo, James J. Harris (Dominic Dirienzo), Danielle Roddy (Robert) and Joseph Tornillo; great-grandchildren, Anthony and Makenzie Harris and McKenna Roddy. She is also preceded in death by her sister and two brothers and is survived by nieces and nephews in England.
A Memorial Gathering will take place on Friday, May 12, 2023 from 6-8 p.m. at Shook’s Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove, N.J. Committal Prayers will be on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, 85 Pleasant Hill Rd., Chester, N.J. 07930. Please gather at the cemetery entrance.
