Domenico Maselli, 95 of Bloomfield, N.J. passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023 surrounded by his loving daughters and family members.
He was born in Circello, Provincia di Benevento, Italy to Pietro and Eleonora (nee Maiorano) Maselli. Raised in Italy, he came to the U.S. in his early 20's residing in Newark, N.J. before settling in Bloomfield. He was a devoted husband and loving father. Domenico was a skilled and accomplished carpenter and craftsman, a trade he learned in Italy as an apprentice and later bringing his skills to the U.S. He treated his carpentry tools and projects with the utmost care and precision.
Domenico was a member of and worked for Local Union #1342 (now Northeast Carpenters Fund) in Edison, N.J. all his life until he retired 34 years ago. He worked on many projects, mastering his craft as a skilled carpenter at job locations throughout New Jersey, and greatly admired by his peers. His proudest accomplishment was the home he built for his family in Bloomfield. In his leisure time he enjoyed reading books, spending time with his family, working in his garage on woodworking hobbies, making home-made wine, visiting museums and cultural venues (especially in Italy), listening to opera and traveling back to his home country of Italy to visit family and friends.
Predeceased by his parents, and siblings Antonio and Armando Maselli and Vincenzina Bovino, and his beautiful wife of 60 years, Emilia (nee Russo) Maselli, he is survived by his beloved daughters, Eleonora and Angela Maselli, and a host of nieces and nephews in the U.S. and in Italy.
Visitation is planned for Sunday, March 19, 2023 from 4 - 8 p.m. at Shook's Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Avenue in Cedar Grove, N.J. Funeral Mass is planned on Monday, March 20, 2023, 10:00 a.m. at St. Lucy's R.C. Church, Newark, N.J. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, N. Arlington, N.J.
