Obituary for Anthony L Pennachio

Anthony L. Pennachio, 87, of Cedar Grove, N.J., passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2023. Tony, son of the late Anthony and Josephine Pennachio, who referred to him as “Chibby,” was born and raised in the Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY.

In 1958, Tony married his beloved wife Mary (Sireci) and started a family in Brooklyn, raising three children, Anthony, Donna Gallucci, and Tracy Caldera.

Tony began his career working in the mailroom at Farrell Lines, a family-owned American steamship company. He worked his way up to Marketing Manager for North and West Africa, enabling him and Mary to travel to Africa, a most gratifying and fulfilling life-adventure. Tony eventually became President of Green Coffee Trade Association, a position in which he took great pride. Upon retirement, he moved to East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, taking much delight in working part time in the pro shop at The Country Club of the Poconos, satisfying a life-long love and passion for the game of golf. In 2013, Tony and Mary moved to Cedar Grove, N.J.

Tony is remembered for his immense love for and involvement with his family. His strength and perseverance through life’s challenges were an inspiration to his family, who looked to him for guidance and wisdom. Tony’s quick wit and infectious smile often set the tone for family gatherings, providing all innumerable happy times and memories.

His children and grandchildren feel blessed and thankful for the many wonderful meals, fun games, and life milestones they shared with him. They are certain his spirit will live on within their family.

In addition to his beloved wife and children, Tony was also the much-loved father-in-law to Paul Caldera; the cherished grandfather of Michaela and Jessica Gallucci and Nicole and Samantha Caldera; and the dear brother of Paula Leonard and the late Rosalie Pennachio.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, February 23, 2023 from 9-11 a.m. at Shook’s Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Avenue, Cedar Grove, N.J. 07009. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 11:30 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena RC Church, 339 Pompton Avenue, Cedar Grove N.J. 07009. Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception, Upper Montclair, N.J.
